More information about Massive Crystallized Septarian Egg

Absolutely stunning and huge crystallized Septarian Egg with Calcite!! This elegant statement piece is approximately 4lbs 6oz! She is HEAVY!

Septarian dragon eggs are septarian nodules that have been carved and polished into an egg shape. The natural, cracked pattern of the septarian gives the surface of these polished stones a exclusive dragon-skin look, hence its nickname "dragon stone". Septarian geodes are a specific geological formation that occurs when minerals (primarily calcite and aragonite) fill in cracks in a concretion. This creates incredibly unique patterning and often leaves hollow spaces inside, forming the geode. These type of septarian dragon egg geodes are from Madgascar and were formed during the Jurassic period, around 160 million years ago.
