European integration is primarily the revival of the basic values ​​of Ukrainians


On January 12, the second “round table” was held at the Chernihiv Training and Methodological Center of Trade Unions of the Polissya Foundation for International and Regional Studies within the framework of the national campaign for the preparation of the Civic Assembly forum of Ukraine. The topic of the event is “European Choice of Ukraine and Civil Society”.

Representatives of public organizations of Chernihiv, representatives of political parties and local self -government bodies took part in the work of the round table.

During the event, experts discussed the problems of self -identification of Ukrainians in the context of European integration, expressed a vision of ways of development of the country and the role of the public sector in self -organization and self -structuring of Ukrainian society.

In discussing the development of integration processes, the participants of the round table expressed the idea that the progress in Europe today requires not so much success in the process of deepening integration cooperation with the EU, but a change in the moral values ​​of each Ukrainian. At the same time, according to experts, Ukraine should maintain its national identity. Head of the Chernihiv Regional Association of the All -Ukrainian Society “Prosvita”. Taras Shevchenko said: “We should not worry about associations, EU, NATO and so on. The revival of understanding the basic value characteristics and landmarks that we have like a European nation is the main task. ”

Outline the ways of further development of the country, experts paid considerable attention to the need to establish effective local self -government. The participants of the round table emphasized that decentralization of decision -making, concentration of power efforts to solve problems of a particular territorial community and involve in this work local NGOs will not only promote the development of the territory, but also allow every resident of the city to feel part, be responsible. According to Roman Semeshko, the head of which “Ukraine of the future”, the Institute of Local Self -Government is one of the main mechanisms of development of the country.

In discussing the issues of self -organization of territorial communities, experts noted the importance of supporting the public sector of initiative groups of citizens in solving the problems of a particular collective, house, territory. At the same time, a significant factor in the intensification of the public was the spread of positive experience of solving local problems and teaching the mechanisms of protection of rights and interests.

Expert proposals were submitted to the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the Civic Assembly forum of Ukraine for the formation of the agenda.
