The future of Ukrainian foreign policy is kept on young shoulders
The constant political struggle in Ukraine and the fact that public policy has become a hostage to business groups, for which the main thing is to realize their business interests has led to the fact that there is virtually no long -term policy planning in the foreign policy. Ukraine’s foreign policy is focused on solving tactical spontaneous tasks, such as no one unexpected gas war with Russia, obtaining from the EU consent to membership, etc.
Another problem is to participate in foreign policy discussions of a limited range of experts and young people are difficult to break through their ideas to participate in politics discussions. Because of this, mostly outdated approaches to the concept of foreign policy are not given attention to such important new issues as climate change, human safety, problems of ethnic minorities, migration, etc. …
FFE sees a way out of this situation in supporting the young generation of researchers. For this purpose, a project was launched to support young compass researchers 2020. As the beginning of the project showed – there is great potential in Ukraine in Ukraine. When the competition was announced in early 2010, the project was filed three times more participants than we expected. These are people under 30 who represent scientific organizations, NGOs, government agencies and seek to make changes to foreign policy. Therefore, the Fund was forced to increase the number of project participants of the initially planned 20 to 34 people. Gennady Maxak participated in the project of the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian compass is the heir to such a project, which has been organized by the Fund since 2007 in Germany. This project was successful and its result was ready -made scripts in various fields of German foreign policy, which in the future had resonance among those people on whom the decision -making in the field of foreign German policy depends.
The representative of the Berlin Office of the Ebert Foundation – Kristos Katsyoulis, responsible for the implementation of the Compass 2020 project in Germany held the first event within the project – training on March 22-23 on writing foreign policy scenarios. Young people during the event received a theoretical basis for how to write scripts and how important it is for long -term planning.
During 2010, it is planned that participants will work on foreign policy scripts, everyone in their field. Along with the traditional areas such as in the role of Ukraine in the European security system, security in the Black Sea region and relations of Ukraine – EU, participants have chosen such unpopular issues among “authoritative experts on international relations”, but are extremely important today, as foreign policy and demographic problems, human safety, immigration, immigration, immigration, immigration.
The final stage of the project should be the publication of the best research, bringing them into account of politicians, expert circles, and their wide discussion during the Fund. Thus, young researchers will be able to make themselves in expert discussions, and initiate discussions on the development of a modern and consistent foreign policy strategy of Ukraine.
