Gennady Maxak took part in a seminar on the initiative of transparency of mining industries

The Institute of Budget and Socio-Economic Research, which implements the project “Strengthening Local Financial Initiative” with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), held a one-day seminar “Initiative of transparency of mining industries-practical importance for Ukrainian citizens on July 24, 2015. Gennady Maxak, President of the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research, took part in the event.

As part of the seminar, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the activities of a multilateral group of stakeholders (BGZO) and the Energro -Transportation Association, the activities of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry to implement the initiative of transparency of mining industries. Also present They learned about the implementation of the initiative of transparency of mining industries in Ukraine (IPVG), got acquainted with the possibilities of its practical use by civil society and the possibilities of ensuring the transparency of budget expenditures, in particular related to mining. In turn,Gennady MaxakHe spoke about the activities of the Association of Regional Analytical Centers and proposed possible forms of cooperation within the framework of the initiative.

The event was attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations from the city of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yenakiyevo, Artemivska, Boryslav, Poltava, ministries and departments, as well as business representatives.

The use of knowledge acquired during the seminar will allow the knowledgeable public to take an active part in the control over the management of natural resources, which will contribute to the openness and transparency of the extraction industry.
