Ukrainian prism. Between strategic partnership and security. September 2013
Changing the geopolitical schedule of forces, shifting accents in the deployment of conflictsfrom global to regional level, updating new threatsTransnational nature necessitates the view of Ukraine’s basicsBuilding relations with countries in the region of Eastern Europe, the Black Sea BasinBut not least with the world leaders. Currently, relations with Russia, China and the United States are strategic. At the regional level, Poland and Turkey are of great strategic importance for Ukraine. Germany, as an influential EU level, also plays an increasingly prominent role, which is not reduced to the European Union’s foreign policy in respect of Ukraine. Further development of strategic relations should focus on three “whales”: activation and strengthening of political and security dialogue, further development and optimization of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as cooperation in the energy sphere. Given the non-aligned status of Ukraine, strategic relations provide an opportunity for the formation of new cooperation tools with partner countries in the military and security spheres. Therefore, Kyiv should pay special attention to multilateral integration initiatives of defense and security.
