Breakthrough or inertia? Reforms in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – Public Debates
Experts of countries whose pro -European vector is clearly distinguished against the background of the policy of the Eastern Partnership, have recently been discussed on the promotion of reforms in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. In the event, which was held by the Foundation. Friedrich Ebert in Poland and the Foundation. Stephen Batoria, Gennady Maxak participated.
The debate was held on April 28, 2015 with the participation of experts specializing in the field of Eastern Partnership, namely: Gennady Maxaka, President of the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Studies, Victor Kiril from the Foreign Policy Association (Moldova) and Vano Chikadze from the Georgian Fund.
Speaking of the pace of reforms in Ukraine, Gennady Maxak noted a negative trend in which Ukrainians are too fast when it comes to revolutions and slowly when it was about reforms. In addition to the obvious challenges that accompany the reform process, one should speak about the lack of political will and the resistance of some employees, the expert said. However, it is unfair to say that nothing was done in his opinion. According to the last official report in the context of the European agenda, some steps were taken. However, there is a problem with communication. Yes, reforms should be communicated not only with European partners but also by ordinary Ukrainians. Gennady Maxak also voiced the main expectations of the Riga summit and answered the audience questions.
The expectations and challenges of Georgia and Moldova’s reforms also participated.
