Chernihiv was told how to influence the city budget
July 29 in the center of Chernihiv in the square. Popudrenko passed the action “To influence the budget of their city”, during which the Chernihivs told how the city budget was formed and suggested to make their own proposals to the 2017 budget. The organizer of the action was the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research.
The purpose of the action is to increase the awareness and attention of the residents of Chernihiv to the problems of local budgets, as well as to encourage local authorities to increase the transparency of the budget process and to participate in the public.
During the action, representatives of the Polissya Fund tried to explain to people that the city budget is not something abstract and far, which is the funds of every resident of the city they pay in the city treasury in the form of taxes and fees. Accordingly, every Chernihiv has the right to control and know where his money is spent. And in order to control budget expenditures, civil society must be mature and responsible, and should be guided in the budget formation processes. This is exactly what representatives of 17 cities of Ukraine are trying to achieve, united in the All -Ukrainian Civil Partnership “For Transparent Local Budgets”.
In addition, everyone has the right not only to know how local authorities dispose of our money, but also to make their proposals, for which it is better to allocate funds from the treasury.
During the action, in addition to the information campaign, residents of the city were asked to fill out questionnaires with priorities for allocation of funds of the city budget.
Analyzing the proposals received, we can conclude that the population wants their funds to improve living conditions, namely: roof repairs, road repairs, repairs of multi -storey buildings. And the residents are concerned about the transport sphere and renewal of the trolleybus park, timely cleaning of garbage from urns in parks and in the adjoining territories, as well as resolving the issue with stray dogs.
