International Conference: European and domestic experts evaluated the dynamics of economic reforms in the regions of Ukraine in the context of EU integration

The Polissya Fund of International and Regional Studies (Chernihiv, Ukraine) was organized by the International Conference. During the International Conference, there was a discussion of the current state of economic development of Ukraine in the context of European integration and new geopolitical challenges, as well as the prospects for the implementation of economic reforms in the regions of Ukraine in the short term.During the event, expert opinions of representatives of the Visegrad countries on the progress of economic reforms in Ukraine were heard. Experts compared the process of reforms that took place in their countries and progress in Ukraine, demonstrated success stories and inspired to continue and not give up, despite the obvious difficulties in our country.

In particular, a Polish expertJan PekloHe stressed that discussing Ukraine’s economy and changes in our country is necessaryConsider the context of war in the East, and the annexation of Crimea, the Russian policy, which tries to destabilize not only Ukraine but also the countries of the Eastern Partnership.According to him, “dWarsaw Ukraine has always been in the top priority. Poland was one of the first countries that recognized Ukraine’s independence”. “WITHAsadnically we believe that there is no safe and prosperous Europe without democratic and free Ukraine ”,– emphasized Mr. J. Peklo.

In turn an expert from SlovakiaGalHe called on Ukrainians to “never give up on the path of democratic reforms”, even given the difficult situation in Ukraine.“INlate ninetiesSlovakiaNo one expected that we would be an “economic tiger” that we would join the EU together with other Visegrad countries that we would have the highest economic development in the European Union that we would produce a million cars a year», – said Mr. G. Zalt.

In addition, during the conferenceAssociate Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Economics of Chernihiv National Technological University Tatiana ZosimenkoThe results of the study of the dynamics of economic reforms in the regions of Ukraine in the context of European integration were presented“European integration economic progress index in Ukraine”.This study was conducted within the framework of the project in 2015 by experts of the Association of Regional Analytical Centers.

The expert emphasized that “the Index of European Integration in Ukraine is a comparative analysis of indicators that allow to evaluate the current state of regions from the standpoint of their readiness to be included in the processes of economic integration with the EU, as well as in the future to track the progress of regions in the implementation of goals of entry into a single economic space of the European Union.”
