“Journalistic Sights” in Chernihiv
At the Chernihiv Expert Club “Pure Policy”, a public consortium of election initiatives for organizational support of the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research organized a discussion of the election situation in Ukraine.
In the informal atmosphere, the participants of the event communicated with the expert on election systems, the chairman of the Board of GM “Opora” Olga Aivazovskaya.
“At one of the stages of the process of preparation of the bill on elections of People’s Deputies of Ukraine, we agreed with partners to work together to somehow influence this process. And one of the methods of influence is, at least, to convey to the regions the information in the Presidential Administration, in the Verkhovna Rada, in committees on the preparation of this bill. In the first stage of the electoral reform, we have the impression that its purpose is to prepare a law that would be beneficial to the individual political forces. We all remember the local elections. After the negative conclusions of international missions, local Ukrainian public organizations on the election campaign, the President decided to create a working group in two days to improve election legislation. Such a speed of action was admirable in international instances. But public Ukrainian structures have anxiety, ”Ms Aivazovskaya said.
In the process of communication, experts and journalists discussed the news of the political environment, the peculiarities of elections in different election systems, compared the situation in Chernihiv region with the situation in other regions of Ukraine.
