Primer as election technology element

Discussion on the topic “Primers as an election technology” was held today in the Chernihiv City Council. The event, organized by the Public Relations Department, aimed at an informative and educational character.

According to the head of the department Irina Solomakha, primaries as an element technology element is successfully used in many countries of the world, but the mechanism of introducing it in the territory of Ukraine still needs to be worked.
The deputy of the city council from the Party of Regions Volodymyr Vinnychenko noted that “primaris” is a rather new word in our language and in our politics. In his opinion, most processes tested in the West or in Russia are distorted. In particular, political forces are trying to use primaries to manipulate public opinion.
“Whether the new system will be enshrined in Ukraine is still a question, but it must be controlled in some way,” V. Vinnichenko is convinced.
UNP representative Sergey Solomakha expressed the opinion that primaries have a logic when one or two parties operate in the country. It also allows you to organize the “cleaning” of party series in some way.
The deputy of the city council Maxim Gorodniy, representing the strong Ukraine party, told about the first steps of his party to hold primers and expressed confidence that this system has a future.
Gennady Maxak, President of the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Studies, stopped in more detail on the meaning of a new concept and experience in different countries. He believes that an effective primariz system should cover only party members.
Other representatives of political parties and experts shared their own thoughts. The participants of the discussion agreed that a wide explanatory campaign was needed to effectively introduce electoral innovations.
Representatives of local self -government bodies, political parties, public organizations, mass media, political experts took part in the discussion.
