Support is looking for ombudsmen who will protect the voting rights of citizens

OPORA Civic Network announces the selection of participants for a certified program “Public Ombudsman School for the Protection of Electoral Rights”, which will prepare candidates for the positions of regional ombudsmen in election rights, which will work 24 months (in December 2018 – December 2020). The activity of regional Ombudsmen in the protection of electoral rights will be in the election campaigns of the 2019 national elections, local elections of 2020 and the intensive care period.
Citizens of Ukraine, who are medium -level professionals and, as a rule, have at least five years of professional experience in the field of human rights and/or elections, work as analysts, experts, advisers, lawyers, specialists of non -governmental organizations or in the private sphere, interested in the processes of transformation, and law enforcement, reform, reform, are invited to participate.
They cannot participate in the program of persons working in public authorities and local self -government, have a representative mandate, are representatives of political parties and individual candidates, as well as persons convicted of committing severe, especially serious, corruption and electoral crimes.
The first step to participate in the competition for the program is to fill to June 15, 2018 An electronic form that will include a motivational essay on “The biggest problems of the election process in Ukraine. How to overcome them ”and a candidate’s summary. The commission will evaluate the results of the questionnaire and take the candidates for the 2nd stage of the competition in the form of interview.
By July 15, 2018, members of the qualifying commission through the public competition will be selected candidates for regional Ombudsmen In accordance with clear criteria for motivation, political non -engagement and professional qualities.
The result will be selected to 50 participants for training. After selection, candidates will study at specially designed profile courses on the basis Ukrainian Catholic University.

Other candidates who have successfully completed their studies and have received a certificate will create a backup list.
Thus, non -partisan, non -political, competent and motivational experts will work in each of the 24 regions of Ukraine and Kiev. They will provide constant monitoring and analysis of criminal cases opened on the basis of electoral crimes, and will constantly monitor each resonant or important case, facilitate its legal investigation. Ombudsmen are expected to become the leaders of the opinion, and the relationship between voters, candidates, law enforcement agencies and human rights will help prevent or resolve electoral conflicts.
