They write about NATO – to visit Poland!


The competition for the best publication on EU and NATO issues for regional media journalists in Chernihiv and Poltava regions was announced by the NGO Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research.

This is within the framework of the project “Honest Information on the EU and NATO for residents of Chernihiv and Poltava regions”, which is implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.

The purpose of the competition is to revive the interest of regional media representatives in European and Euro -Atlantic integration, EU and NATO activities, to initiate a discussion on the benefits or disadvantages of this foreign policy course of Ukraine.

Journalists who publish their materials in the regional electronic and printed media of Chernihiv and Poltava regions are invited to participate in the competition.

Orientation topics of publications:

The history of the formation and activities of the European Union or NATO;
Institutions of the European Union or NATO;
The state and prospects of development of Ukraine’s relations with the EU or NATO;
Regional aspect of European and Euro -Atlantic integration;
The experience of reforms and social transformation of new NATO member countries and the EU, which can be useful for Ukraine in the context of European or Euro-Atlantic integration.
This list of topics is not exhaustive. A creative approach is welcome when choosing a topic and a genre of information. When considering competitive articles, preference will be given to impartial and objective materials on the specified information topics.

Published materials should be sent by May 10, 2008 to the NGO Polissya Fund of International and Regional Research – pfirs@inet.ua marked “Contest”.

In the event that the competition is published in regional print media, the scanned version of the material and its text in MS Word, and in the cover letter, provide information about the name of the newspaper/magazine, the number and number in which the material was published. If the material is published on the regional website to the Polissya Fund, you must send its text in MS Word, as well as a reference to the corresponding page on the Internet.

In both cases, in the cover letter, the author’s name and his contact details (telephone, email, other contact details at will) should be noted.

The optimal volume of articles should be 3-10 thousand characters, although in some cases, publications that do not meet these criteria will be taken into account.

The results of the competition will be announced on May 19, 2008.

According to the results of the competition, 10 winners (5 in each region) will be selected, for which a 4-day training trip to Poland is envisaged. During their stay abroad, a number of interesting meetings are planned with representatives of Polish government and non -governmental organizations that will share their experience in conducting information campaigns in Poland on European and Euro -Atlantic integration.
