Ukraine can develop integration without EU membership – experts
The experience of European countries that are not members of the EU has become the subject of discussion by researchers and teachers of European integration from different regions of Ukraine within the fourth Congress of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies.
In the IV Congress of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies, which took place on October 14-16 in Vinnitsa with the support of the EU program. Jeana Monet and Vinnytsia City Council was attended by members of local units, representatives of government structures and experts in the field of European integration. The guests included representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine, EU representations in Ukraine, the International Renaissance Foundation, teachers and students of Vinnytsia National Technical University, as well as the Swiss Association of European Studies.
This year’s Congress was opened: President Roman Petrov, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine Olav Berstad, rector of VNTU Volodymyr Grabko, President of Swiss Associations of European Studies Prof. Rene Swap, other respectable persons.
The first day of Congress will be devoted to discussing the topic “Integration of Ukraine into the European Union without formal membership”. This is especially true of studying the experience of cooperation between the EU and Norway and Switzerland. The ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine to Ukraine to Ukraine, Olav Berstad, spoke with the honorary lecture on “Political, Economic and Legal Integration into the European Union. Past and future.” In the expert discussion of the experience of European countries and the future strategy for Ukraine on EU integration without formal membership, members of the UAES, representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on European Integration Gennady Druzenko, representative of the European Integration Bureau of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Vyacheslav Stetsenko, President of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, participated. Rene Swap, well -known Ukrainian experts, as well as teachers of Vinnytsia National Technical University.
On the second day of the Congress, there was a discussion with the participation of members of the UAES, foreign associations of European studies on modern problems of popularization of information on European integration, teaching and implementation of scientific research from European studies in educational institutions of Ukraine. Maxim Yakovlev, the head of the German and European Studies of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, made a presentation on the results of a sociological research on the state of teaching European studies in Ukraine. There was also a discussion of the best experience in the operation of local units and foreign associations of European studies.
At the end of the Congress, the results of the UAES activity for 2008-2010 were summed up, the activities of the current year were discussed and the UECS management was elected. Roman Petrov, Candidate of Philosophy, Philosophy of London University (United Kingdom), Professor NaUKMA, was re -elected President UEAS.
