Chernihiv are disappointed in political parties and waiting for “fresh blood”: the results of the survey

In Chernihiv, the next political season is completed, which was unexpectedly stormy and controversial. And this is despite the fact that according to the schedule, the next local elections will take place no earlier than 1.5 years.

In order to partially summarize the results of this season, the Polissya Fund of International and Regional Studies conducted a sociological survey, during which 1100 Chernihiv was interviewed. The sample took into account the gender and age structure of the population of Chernihiv, which reached the age of 18. The theoretical sample error was 3%. Its results were presented during a roundtable, which took place on August 22 in the conference hall of the Daznnyansky Hotel.

The results of the survey show that the city’s residents are increasingly disappointed in political parties presented in Parliament and the local council. In particular, the questions “Whether your expectations justified representatives in the city council for which you voted in the past elections” 34.4% of those polled answered that the deputies did not live up to expectations at all. Only 2.4%were fully aware of the expectations. 34.8% of respondents said their surveys were partially justified.

Thus, more than a third of Chernihiv was actually disappointed with their chosen ones. According to experts, this is due to the fact that the deputies of the city council are actually detached from the residents of Chernihiv and are more involved in solving personal, business or party issues than they take care of the development of Chernihiv and the welfare of its residents. A significant role was played by an information campaign around land issues that are actively held in Chernihiv during the last year. Against the background of dissatisfaction with political parties, the trust of voters in local non -political public organizations – the so -called “public blocs” is increasing. Half of the respondents (50.5%) are convinced that if they are represented in the city council, the decision -making process in the interests of the community will improve, while only 2.1% of respondents may worsen the situation.

To the question “Do you consider the potential to vote for the public block in elections to the city council?” 50.8% of respondents responded approvingly. They are not ready to vote for the public block 22%, and the rest have not yet been decided. During the roundtable, experts reported that if the election of the Chernihiv mayor took place in August, then Alexander Sokolov would win them. He is ready to cast his votes a little more than a quarter of the respondents – 25.2 %. In the second place, displacing Sergei Knurenko came Alexei Savchenko – 11.7%. Knurenko has 6% and he would take the third place. The six of the most popular Chernihiv politicians also included Vitaliy Golets, Vladimir Leshchenko and Mykola Zverev (from 2.6 to 3.2%, respectively).

If the current mayor would retain his position, then the composition of the city council would change dramatically. Yes. According to the BYuT survey, 23.9%will be gained, 16.2%. The third place with 7.3% would not be represented today in the City Council Bloc Lytvyn. The following are the CPU – 6.1%, 5%and NUNS – 4.4%. Experts from the Polissya Fund reported that they plan to continue to conduct and publish the results of sociological research in order to see the dynamics. They called this survey “basic” as such, which can be receded in the future.
